The Honourable Janice Filmon, C.M., O.M.

Lieutenant Governor of Manitoba

Sunday, March 21, 2021

Are you looking to put some rhythm in your step? Would you like a song in your heart? Are you hoping for harmony?

You have come to the right place.

Music teachers, musicians of all ages and lovers of music have been working to keep music alive even during this long period without concerts and festivals.

In this online concert, they will share with us their passion and the fruits of their dedication to their art.

For more than a century, the Winnipeg Music Festival has celebrated the drive for excellence in all facets of music. This festival has been a launching pad for some of Canada’s most accomplished performers in classical, jazz, opera and pop music.

And even more importantly it has given generations of Manitobans a goal to aim for during their years of dedicated practice.

The magic of music lies in its ability to touch us without contact, to speak to us without words. Music reminds us that, wherever we are, however many empty rooms we may have around us, we are not alone.

The volunteers, staff, teachers and adjudicators who made this year’s Winnipeg Music Festival possible have made an extraordinary effort to ensure that music will bring us together this year.

They, and the talented and dedicated musicians performing in the festival, give us much to sing about.

Congratulations to all the participants in the 2021 Winnipeg Music Festival. And to everyone watching, enjoy the show.
